Settings File Sources

File Sources section in the Settings allows you to your media from you local Network (LAN) to your Boxee media library, Boxee will fetch the cover art and the information for the media and will organize it for you, see Personal Media Files and the Media Library article for more information

In the File sources menu you will presented with all the sources that you add and two option, to add new sources and resolve unidentified videos.

Add Sources

Steps to add a Source:

  • click ADD SOURCE
  • choose the protocol you want to use
  • choose the source of the file
  • click on ADD SOURCE while in the folder you want to add
  • set the media type and the scan interval (the recommended is Daily)
  • let Boxee finish the scan and resolve process (the lenght of it depends on the size of the source)

In order for media to be resolved correctly Boxee requires a certain naming convention and for the content to be present in tvdb (thetvdb.com ) and imdb (imdb.com ).

We also provide an option to manually resolve the content, follow the steps bellow in order to do so

NOTE: Boxee provide the option to use NFO files, we strongly recommend to use it for unresolved content, it will provide a permanent solution. Content that was manually identified will be lost in case of a settings reset.

  • Open File Sources and click on UNIDENTIFIED FILES
  • choose the file you want to identify
  • choose the identify option from the side bar (a looking glass icon)
  • enter the name of the movie/ tv show and click on search
  • choose the correct result from the list

NOTE: In case you couldn't find the correct match verify that the file excite in tvdb and imdb, if not you can use NFO files for manual resolve, review this article for more information

I most say - I have the same question as Tom - and it is frustrating. Is their an answer to the Q? Will Boxee solve this problem in an update?

Is there an answer to this? I have the same question to delete a source.

Is there even a total reset ability?

How does one remove or rename a source ?  There is no obvious function to do this, and if you want to redirect an already named source to another folder, the box returns an answer that the name is already in use - no possibility to overwrite/or delete ???
