Problems on a TV Connection

Question

What can I do if I have issue connection the Iomega to my TV?

Answer

TV screen does not display correctly

If your Iomega TV is connected to an SD TV, you might need to change the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3. Access Boxee Settings and select General > Display > Screen format & overscan. Use the right arrow to highlight the Aspect Ratio options and select the 4:3 format.

Iomega TV does not respond to the remote control

  • Make sure you are pointing the remote control directly at the receiver on the front panel. The indicator light on the Iomega TV will flash once when it receives a signal from the remote control. If the indicator light is not on, make sure the Iomega TV is receiving power (see Iomega TV LED does not light), then check the following suggestions.

  • The Iomega TV remote control is designed for use from the comfort of your sofa. If Boxee is not responding to the remote control as expected, you might be too close. Try moving farther away.

  • If you are trying to use the QWERTY keyboard, press the Unlock  key on the lower left of the keyboard. If you accidentally press one of the navigation keys on the top side of the remote while you are using the QWERTY keyboard, it will automatically lock the keyboard. Press Unlock again to continue using the keyboard.

  • If you are using the remote control for the first time, install the included AAA batteries. Make sure the batteries are oriented correctly.

  • If you have used the remote control for some time, the batteries could be depleted. Try replacing them.

Blank or blue screen when the Iomega TV is connected to a TV

  • Confirm that the Iomega TV is correctly connected to video input on your TV set using either HDMI (HD TV) or composite video (SD TV). Refer to Connecting to a TV for detailed instructions.

  • Make sure the Iomega TV is connected to power and turned on.

  • Make sure you have selected the correct video input on your TV to display output from the Iomega TV.

No audio output

  • Check the audio connection between the Iomega TV and the television set. If you are using HDMI, it includes both video and audio. If you are using a composite video connection, you can connect the Iomega TV to right/left RCA connectors on the TV set using the red and white connectors on the composite cable. You can also connect the Iomega TV to a digital amplifier (receiver) using an optical audio cable (not included). If you are using a composite RCA connection, be sure you have connected to audio input on the TV set.

NOTE: Some TV sets are equipped with separate composite and component audio inputs. Make sure you have connected to the correct inputs. See Connecting to a TV for instructions.

  • Verify that the audio input setting on your TV is correct for the connection you are using for the Iomega TV (HDMI, optical audio, or composite RCA).

  • You can manually adjust the audio output setting for the Iomega TV using Boxee Settings > System > Audio. Select the appropriate audio output mode for the connection you are using for the Iomega TV. If the Iomega TV is connected to an AV amplifier using an optical audio cable, select Digital (S/PDIF) for the audio output and check the receiver's capabilities.

  • Check the volume setting on the TV or AV amplifier. You will not be able to hear audio if the volume is too low.

  • Try turning off the TV set, then turning it back on and restart your Iomega TV.

TV does not have RCA jacks

Try connecting your Iomega TV through an RF Modulator. You can also use the optical audio connector on the Iomega TV to connect to an AV amplifier (receiver) with a digital audio decoder (optical audio cable not included).

NOTE: Do not connect the Iomega TV through a VCR. Video signals fed through a VCR may be affected by copyright protection systems and the picture will be distorted on the television.

Iomega TV LED does not light

The indicator light glows white when the Iomega TV is powered up and blinks when the Iomega TV is loading or accessing files. If the LED does not light, try the following troubleshooting suggestions.

  • Confirm that the power supply that shipped with the Iomega TV is correctly connected to the back of the player. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply cable.

  • Confirm that the power supply is connected.

Picture distortion or degraded picture quality when viewing a copy-protected PPV program

Make sure your Iomega TV is connected directly to the television. Do not connect through a VCR as video signals fed through VCRs may be affected by copyright protection systems and the picture will be distorted on the television. Connecting your television directly to the audio/video output on your Iomega TV will assure a more vivid picture and enhance your viewing enjoyment.
