How to add an AFP source to the Boxee.

Question

Can I access file via AFP from the Boxee or add them as a File Source ?

Answer

Boxee Box has support for the AFP network protocol, for more information about AFP please click here.

How to Use

You have two options, first via the Boxee file browser:

  • Navigate to Files → Browse → Network

  • choose “Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) then browse to your source (computer)

  • Play the file you want

Second option is to add a file source via AFP :

  • Navigate to settings → File Sources Add Sources → “Apple Filing Protocol (AFP)”

  • Locate the computer you want to share from

  • Add the directory and set the scan parameters

Notes:

  1. Please note that only devices with Native AFP support will be supported on Boxee.

  2. AFP will start to scan for network sources only when you first enter it (browse/ file sources), if you added AFP source then it will automatically scan and start resolving for sources as soon as you start using the Boxee.

  3. For more information about adding File Sources please check the File sources article.

  4. Don't forget to configure share permission locally on the device you are sharing from.

  5. You can add it as a File Source from the Browser menu by click on the Plus icon
  6. If you can not locate the host name in the list use the add by ip address option in the File Source menu
